For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of Jazz music. If it swings, I like it. Quartets, Trios, Big Bands, in whatever configuration, as long as it swings. I love the harmonic nature and complexity and the many, many fabulous melodies of the Standards. Unfortunately Jazz seems to be a dying art form.

Jazz In The Hills is an organization that supports the Genre in the Phoenix metro area. Jazz In The Hills provides a weekly concert with many amazing local musicians with occasional guest musicians visiting the beautiful resort-like community of Fountain Hills. You’ll find me there with my family every Friday night! Check out Jazz In The Hills to see what is coming up, then come in and enjoy this amazing music, before it is gone for good.

I grew up playing music, mostly the Trumpet. Band, Symphony, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, Drum and Bugle Corps… anything and everything just to play. I played my way through college in the 70′s with gigs of any and all sorts. The funniest, I suppose, was as the skinny white kid who can’t dance a lick in a “funk/R&B” group that payed for much of my college education. I sort of hid in the back behind a keyboard with my two left feet looking ridiculous… but man I could play that music! After graduation “real jobs” began and music was back-burnered. These days I collect, repair, play and finally sell horns. I can only keep a reasonable number for myself and daughter (who is learning to play too!) Those I sell will be posted here … with much reluctance. http://benge.wildabout.com

We’ve been asking that question for ten years now. Wow, how time flies. When we first built WildAbout.com the Internet was like the California Gold Rush of the 19th century. In many ways if feels like it was that long ago. Our concept was to build a community collaboration framework…and we did.

We had the equivalent of a blog, and shared calendars, and chat (and it was animated with avitars), forums, photo albums, free email, and even auctions. Sort of a Fred Flintstone version of FaceBook plus many of the cool things Google makes possible today.

A little ahead of the times and technology curve, but spot on with what the world needs to communicate and share ideas.

We ran out of money, had to get real jobs… Needless to say we didn’t become Internet billionaires. But who wants to own basketball teams anyway?
